Adopting a CAT

There are currently millions of homeless cats in the United States. By adopting through a rescue, you save a life. You also gain a fantastic family member in the process. That’s a win-win in our book! Look through our available cats and contact us if you have any questions about a specific cat or the adoption process.

Making a Donation

By donating to AID, you are ensuring that we are able to continue our mission of saving the lives of cats in our community. All our funds are used for medical maintenance, food, and housing of our rescues. And by contributing to a 501(c)(3) non-profit,  your donation can be claimed on your annual tax return.

About Us

Animals in Distress, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has serviced the Mercer County area for over 50 years. As one of the oldest rescues in our area, our primary focus has been rescue of abandoned, abused, or neglected cats and kittens.
Our rescue maintains a small adoption room in Mercerville, NJ, often referred to as the cat cottage, where cats can receive visitors inquiring about adoption in a relaxed environment. The cats and kittens in the cottage are offered out of cage time daily to exercise, play, bird-watch through the window, or lounge in the sun.
We have no paid employees, and are 100% volunteer run. This ensures that all donations received go directly to the care and well-being of animals we rescue.
