Animals in Distress is a 501c3, all volunteer, non-profit organization that has serviced the Mercer County area for more than 40 years.  As one of the oldest rescue groups in the area, our primary focus has been the rescue of abandoned, abused and neglected cats and kittens.

Animals in Distress maintains an adoption room at Mercerville Animal Hospital, where the animals have space to run and play or sit at a window and watch birds and squirrels and enjoy the sunlight. The hospital staff continues to monitor the health of all our animals to insure the animals going to their new homes leave in good health.

You can see the animals we have available at the Mercerville Animal Hospital, weekdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. by appointment. To schedule a time, please call Pat Soltis at 215-736-2860 or email at

While we very rarely take in dogs, we have on occasion helped people who incur sudden and high medical bills for their sick or injured dogs.

Our adoption fee includes all vaccinations (including rabies), testing for feline leukemia and feline AIDS and the spay/neuter of the animal.
